FREE PUBLIC CUPPING @ RALLY (701 s 7th St Philadelphia PA 19147)

It’s been a second and maybe almost too long technically… Please forgive BTC.

Still, some have speculated that yesterday is gone* and we need MUST think about tomorrow, dare to dream, be the change we want to see and plan accordingly.

So, we’re doing that… and we’re… planning on cupping… in public view and with the public, too… at Rally (701 s 7th St Philadelphia PA 19147) on May 15th at 4:30PM. It’s free and you’re all welcome to join.

What’s the deal with cuppings? Cuppings are an industry-wide practice of evaluating and understanding coffee by smelling ground coffee, the aroma it produces as you brew it, and then tasting it once it’s cooled down. We call it a cupping because the coffee is brewed in small-bowl shaped cups, like an unfiltered french press.

We’ll have ALL of our coffee on hand for your sipping/slurping consideration. We’ll ask each other questions. And if you are (or everyone is) too shy to talk… I’ll just make rapid fire awkward banter.

Also, it’ll be a blind cupping, which is to say, there’ll just be cups in front of you to smell and taste with no labels to indicate what they are. It keeps things spicy. Who knows what cup you might fall in love with? I promise more than a few will say the decaf was your favorite. And who doesn’t like having their sense of self broken and scutinized in front of 100s of strangers??? Ok maybe it won’t be quite that dramatic.

Anyway, if you’ve never been to a coffee cupping, I think you should give it a shot. And if you have… well, I expect to see you there. Starts at 4:30PM and will end around 5:15PM probably.

*listen, we need to talk about time. Because maybe yesterday isn’t gone. A lot of big time brainiacs seem to think it’s a dimension and that our perception of it is off. Like time doesn’t just rain on to us and pass, but rather its a road that we’re on and it goes all sorts of ways. Plus, Nietszche had some thoughts on time or experience being cyclical.. I dunno I just roast coffee when I run out of it…
