BTC PUBLIC CUPPING at RALLY

  • Friday, January 11, 2019

  • 4:00 PM  5:00 PM

WHAAAAAT’SSS up friends, family, acquaintances, and mortal enemies? We’re ready to let you taste our latest coffee offerings at our weekly Public Cupping at Rally, this afternoon at 4PM.

Coffee is seasonal. Things come and go. We’d save some of our past hits in a freezer but that’s where we’re hoarding the last 17 gallons of Capogiro’s Stracciatella (RIP). We’ve got brand new Colombians that we’ve judiciously blended into both Happy Lamp and Stoop Sitter. We’re ecstatic with the results. They will be joined by SO fave’s “Orange You Glad…”, FLOWERS, and San Jacinto. All in all, it’ll be one for the books, with a little something for everybody. As always, this is a free event, and Charlie will be available to take on any and all questions you throw his way, coffee related or otherwise.

See ya there.
Best,
BTC

BTC Public Cupping at the LA MARZOCCO CAFE!

Is this real life? Is life a dream? What is your purpose?
All of these questions and more will be explored with the help of Elizabeth and friends at the La Marzocco Cafe’s weekly Public Cupping. To top it off, she’ll also be featuring some of our babies (read “offerings” or “coffees”) in a cupping format. In sippers paradise. A slippers oasis.
Hey, in all seriousness, we’re truly honored and stoked to be included in this cupping. We used to work at La Marzocco and we’re continually blown away by the quality of coffee that she would source for and the level of preparation she’d put into these events. Needless to say, we’re humbled, happy, and confused to find ourselves there. As Blink 182* once noted, “I guess this is growing up.”
Please stop by! Taste the coffee! Ask the deeper questions and don’t be surprised by the even deeper or incredible mundane answers.

BTC and Machine Shop Boulangerie at COOK

BTC and Machine Shop Boulangerie at COOK

Woah, we are thrilled and delighted to be paired up with the incredible folks of Machine Shop at Cook this Sunday. Machine Shop make some of, if not most of, if not all of, the FINEST croissants/vienoiserie/leavened goods in Philadelphia/The Delaware Valley/Mid-Atlantic/USA/World? We don’t know and don’t care to figure out how true or not true that statement is because we’re too busy noshing on their kouign amanns and pain chocolats and if you want to argue these things, you really shouldn’t and should just eat their croissants. LIfe’s too short.

Weekly Cupping at RALLY

That’s right, we’re back at Rally with our weekly cupping. There will be an assortment of BTC on the table and perhaps some other gems. This event is free to the public and a great way to check out some tasty coffees, side by side. Never cupped coffee before? Get over here! Cup every day? You too should swing on by. It’s laid back!

Yo wuzzup.

We’re gonna be schlepping La Marzocco GS3 (buy Marzocco, friends), some beautiful Ethiopian, Kenyan, and Guatemalan coffees, and a whole assortment of potential conversation topics over to Kensington this Saturday. Don’t you need that? Ok, ok, you drive a hard bargain. What if I were to tell you that I will be joined by some FANTASTIC pastries (presumably the best donuts in Philadelphia) and wildest breads this side of the Mississippi. That sounds way better, right? Cool.

WEEKLY PUBLIC CUPPING @RALLY COFFEE

Hi there friends.

Rally Coffee has taken to hosting a weekly public cupping of our coffees each Friday. What’s a cupping you might ask (you might)? A cupping is essentially an exercise in tasting and evaluating coffees, side by side. We like to keep these fairly laid back. We’ll be smelling some coffees and then tasting them. These can be very eye-opening experiences for newcomers and is a neat way to explore the different flavors and aromatics found in coffee.

ALL. ARE. WELCOME.

Hi there...

*to the snarky folks out there, yes, we agree, we have already "sold out" and that's okay too.

MAYFLOWERS IN JUNE #3: MACHINE SHOP/BTC @COOK

THIS SUNDAY! IT'S GOING TO BE A BUSY AND DELICIOUS WEEKEND...

We're pumped! We're counting our lucky stars right now to be collaborating on a pop-up with our dear friends from down South...Philly, MACHINE SHOP BOULANGERIE, at Cook, in Center City.

These ladies slay all things bread and viennoiserie.

Sometimes you don't know what you're missing in life and then one day, someone hands you a properly risen, extremely well-crafted, picture-perfect laminated pastry from Machine Shop and you're like, "But how could I have EVER settled for less? This is crazy. Check please." Seriously, though. Their products are always tasty, consistently crafted, inventive, and yet always created with respect for the classic french tradition from which they were borne.

We will be there with a healthy serving of BTC-roasted drip coffee, espresso, milk and nut milks to be steamed or not, iced coffee, and a drink we're calling "Jagger/Richards." We're not spilling any beans about what it is. You're just going to need to stop by and find out.

MAYFLOWERS IN JUNE #2 @ LOST BREAD.

That's right folks,

We're not totally sure why... but Lost Bread has said "sure" to the idea of us coming back to their wonderful shop to serve some more coffee. Needless to say, we're stoked. We had a ball last time and it was cool meeting some new faces and seeing some very beautiful old ones.

Expect Espresso, Drip Coffee, Iced Coffee, and "Lost Coffee." (We're not gonna explain that last one; just get there already and find out for yourself.) ... AND DON'T FORGET THE CRAZY BREAD AND KOUIGN AMANNS.

MAYFLOWERS in JUNE: LOST BREAD

We're truly honored and stoked to be able to serve coffee, ESPRESSO, and something we're going to call "Lost Coffee" this Saturday at LOST BREAD in "Olde Kensington."  ;-)

As you may or may not know, we here at BTC are perpetually hungry and may have an intense love for bread... "may".... And as far as we can tell, good bread purveyors in Philadelphia were slightly hard to come by once upon a time. In our minds, there were basically three people quietly making great bread.  Alex Bois, former head baker at High Street, was one of those three. Well guess what? Things have changed regarding that "volume level." He and his staff are loudly and proudly serving up crazy and "inventive"(to say the least) bread for the hungry people of Philadelphia in their BRAND-SPANKING NEW facility on Howard Street, just above Girard Ave. They're getting wild with greens, grains, both milled and whole, seeds, beets, citrus, eggs, and just about anything else local and tasty or crazy.

We're not entirely sure what to expect this weekend because they seem to up the anti every time they throw an event.  We're simply hoping that we can at least keep up with them... but then again, it's a great time of year for coffee and maybe we're not afraid to get weird too. So, if you can, you should swing by this Saturday, June 2nd. Starts at 10AM and stops whenever either one of us runs out of stuff or 4PM. Whichever comes first.

Have a great week.

Literally run by Emily Riddell and Katie Lynch all day every day, seven days a week. If there were eight days, you'd be best believe they still wouldn't take a day off. Their secret strength? They care about their craft!
Riddell and Lynch began their careers holding down the pastry and bread departments of Chef Perrier's establishments in Philadelphia. In the last decade, they've been busy beginning, running, and maintaining more than a few big-deal projects from Philly to San Francisco. A few years ago, while they were probably sleep-deprived, they planned up a perhaps-crazy-idea to open up arguably one of the tastiest and well-regarded bakeries on the East Coast and haven't looked back since... (or slept... They work a lot...). Did it work? Did the idea come to fruition? I implore ye, go to many of the finer cafes in Philadelphia and find out for yourself. They're featured at pretty much all of them and have gotten some killer write ups in such prestigious establishments as Bon Apetit and Philly Magazine. CHECK THEM OUT: http://machineshopphilly.com

PHILLY LAKE... UMM... PARK COFFEE!

To be fair, in all of my life, I have never seen a lake in Philadelphia. I know there are some rivers, duh. I've seen a few pools... and I've seen very large potholes full of water (usually a little too late... be careful out there this summer, kids).

Anyway

  • 10:00am  12:00pm

Dear Friends... IT'S ON AGAIN!!!

This coming Sunday (JUNE 21st), we'll be throwing down freshly roasted coffee, pastries, and tunes. The only toll: Bring a cup.
If you're feeling extra awesome and brave, bring any or all of the following:
water to brew with, a grinder, a heat source (we suggest a camping stove), a brewer, perhaps some filters, maybe a handkerchief, and perhaps a spoon.
The shindig begins at 10AM, in Oakland, at Lake Merritt, Northwest corner, directly behind fairyland. There are some picnic benches up there. Look for all the hooligans brewing coffee.
Questions? Concerns? contact us at blindtigercoffee@gmail.com
Hope to see ya there.

Oakland Lake Coffee Feb 08 2015

Oh hi,

BTC will be hanging heavy this coming Sunday (02.08.15) at Lake Merritt in Oakland for Oakland's FiRsT eVeR OAKLAND LAKE COFFEE.

What's the deal? Oh, just some of the finest people are getting together to drink coffee and eat donuts at Lake Merritt.  Why?  Because it's important.  Duh.

What do you need? We suggest, at the very least, that you bring a cup that fits 6-10oz of coffee.  If you bring a stove, cool.  If you bring a brewer, cule.  If you bring a grinder, kewl.  If you bring a scale, yer quool and as obsessive as us (really koowell in other words).

But I will be there for sure, with some very tasty Colombian coffee.  One cups going to me, another to a friend or two.  But, whatever's left could in fact be brewed and poured into your cup for fun. Think about it.

HARD FACTS:

  • All are welcome
  • Starts at 10am SHARP (as if you didn't already know that)
  • Located at Lake Merritt just south of Fairyland. Walk along the lake.  You'll see an abandoned dock and to the left a hill.  Walk, run, or bike up the hill until you see some rAnDoSbrewing coffee by picnic tables.
  • Ends whenever.

See you there?
